4/19/16 Meeting Summary Posted
Information on the 4/19/16 Board meeting has been posted and can be found here:
It is relatively short. But, once again, it contains information related to the club cottages; and you may find it to be of interest.
Contacting Board Members
My goal is to report information which will allow you to form your own opinions and come to your own conclusions. If reading about the Board’s activities prompts you to make comments on some issue, I suggest that these be sent directly to the Board members. This can be done one of two ways.
Option 1: If you wish your comments to remain private, send an e-mail to the Board members directly. Addresses for each of the directors are as follows:
Joe Bastian: [email protected]
Dave Bursiek: [email protected]
Lorena Clark: [email protected]
Bill Colton: [email protected]
Paul Elstro: [email protected]
Sharon Livingston: [email protected]
Don Lummus: [email protected]
Claralyn Phillips: [email protected]
Les Stuewer: [email protected]
For ease of emailing, you can copy and paste this address list into your email:

Option 2: You can post your comment to the GC Chat forum on the POA web site and hope that it is read by the Board members. Please understand that this is a quasi-public forum. Posted comments will be available for viewing by any community member that chooses to access the site, and they will be able to comment on your post.
I do not believe that communicating with the Board members will be a waste of time. If you take that attitude and never make yourself heard, then there is little cause to complain. I believe that most Board members will carefully consider reasonable, thoughtful communications. And, if they receive similar messages from many residents, I find it difficult to believe that they will not sit up and take notice.
If you wish to copy me on any e-mail sent to the Board, feel free to do so, as I would welcome having the information. ([email protected]) I will assume that anything sent to me is to be kept in confidence.
And, as always, if you have any questions about anything I have written, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for listening.
Info – Assessment and Borrowing Limitations
I promised to provide answers to questions I had asked regarding limitations on the Board’s ability to levy assessments and borrow money. A short summary can now be found here: Assessments & Borrowings
The Board met on November 8th, but I was not able to attend. I had somebody covering for me and will provide a summary of that meeting shortly (most likely after the Annual Meeting). By now you have received an e-mail from the Board informing you that it has decided to cancel the contract to purchase the vacant land outside the front gate and to reduce the annual general assessment accordingly. If there is anything else of note to report, I will cover that after the Annual Meeting.
If you have questions about anything to do with the budget, I encourage you to attend the annual meeting and ask them there. I believe the audience would prefer to hear the questions and answers there rather than having to attend a separate meeting to do so.
2013 Budget
I have posted some comments on the 2013 budget; focusing on reserves and also on some line items within the budget. The additional information I promised on the $4,400 allocation to the Community Activities Committee is within this summary as one of the line items on which I have commented. It can be found here: 2103 Budget
In a previous post, I mentioned that I had asked some questions regarding the Board’s spending and/or borrowing limitations, if any. I received the answers a few days ago but am still in the process of trying to clarify the answers. I expect to have that information posted at the end of this week.
10/17/12 Meeting Summary Posted
I am still working on a portion of what I wanted to post, but I thought it best not to delay the general meeting summary; since it contains some interesting and timely information.
In the “Budget Release” post, I mentioned an allocation of around $4,000 to the newly formed Community Activities Committee. I think this is an important issue to cover in an information paper, but I am still gathering information and wrestling with how to present it. I am having a difficult time remaining completely objective in my write-up, so I may have to break out part of it into an editorial piece. In any case, I will try to have that done in the next few days.
In the meantime, please accept my apologies for the multiple posting notices. (I was trying to keep them down to no more than one or two a month; but I am not doing a very good job of that right now.)
The meeting summary can be found here: 10/17/12 Meeting Summary
Info on Budget Release and Approval
I have posted a supplemental report on the release of the 2013 budget plus some key information that has been made available. I also included some information on the ratification of the budget. I’ll publish the October meeting summary soon, but I wanted to get this information out as quickly as possible.
The report can be found here: Supplemental Report – 2013 Budget
9-28-12 Special Meeting
